Thirty-one years ago, on August 21, 1983, Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. was murdered on the tarmac of the Manila International Airport, the victim of the Marcos regime. He left behind a widow, Corazon Cojuangco Aquino, who would succeed Marcos as head of the republic; and, among other children, a son, Benigno III, who now sits as a one-term president.

The late Pope John Paul II, who served as Pontiff from 1978 to 2005, visited the Philippines twice—in February 1981, when he beatified the first Filipino martyr, Lorenzo Ruiz, and in January 1995, when an estimated 4 million Filipinos attended the Mass he celebrated at the close of World Youth Day.

Sa kabataang di kilala si Marcos at di alam ang ginawa niya


Hindi ninyo siguro maintindihan kung bakit kailangang ipagdiwang ito taun-taon. Baka nga sawa na kayo siguro sa EDSA, sa taun-taong anibersaryo ng People Power, sa paggunita sa mga nangyari noong 1986, noong pinatalsik ng mga Pilipino ang diktador.
