SAN FRANCISCO — Laura Jordan, mother of slain 8-year-old Madyson Middleton, isn’t angry at the mother of the 15-year-old suspect, Adrian Jerry Gonzalez. Jordan doesn’t blame her at all.

Madyson went missing on July 26 and was found dead in a recycling bin at the Santa Cruz, California apartment complex where she and her mother lived. Gonzalez, who was accused of kidnapping, raping and killing her was arrested and will be tried as an adult.

Only hours after Gonzalez made his first court appearance in the rape and slaying of Madyson, Jordan told the San Francisco Chronicle that she heard crying near the memorial for her daughter at the Tannery Arts Center courtyard. She saw Reggie Factor, Gonzalez’s mother, on her knees, crying that her son was “a bad boy, a terrible boy.”

Jordan knelt next to her, placed a hand on her back, and held her close. “I just love her, and we both lost our children that day. That’s the tragic truth,” Jordan told the Chronicle. “I don’t fault her.”

Gonzalez is facing charges including murder, kidnapping and sexual assault. He has not entered a plea, and his next hearing is set for Sept. 21.
