TRO poised on RH conference
MANILA, Philippines—A four-day international conference on reproductive health in Pasay City is at risk of being cut short, after a pro-life group accused the event of encouraging abortion and filed a temporary restraining order (TRO) against it in court.
In a 10-page petition, Pro-Life Philippines Foundation Inc. asked a Pasay court to stop the 7th Asia Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health Rights, which opened on Tuesday at the Philippine International Convention Center.
The petition was lodged at the Pasay clerk of court on Monday, but was only raffled to the Pasay Regional Trial Court Branch 110 Tuesday afternoon.
The court immediately scheduled a hearing on the petition for 2 p.m. Wednesday, and issued the hearing notices to the concerned parties.—Jaymee T. Gamil
