French held after spat with girlfriend
CEBU CITY—A 25-year-old French tourist has been arrested to face charges of manhandling his Filipino girlfriend following an argument on Thursday night.
Jonathan Lumes, 25, a native of France, was detained at the police station in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, pending filing of charges of physical injuries against him.
A complaint of grave threats will also be filed against the Frenchman for allegedly threatening to kill Jona Mae Lusabia, 31, and her family if she went to the police, said Chief Insp. Enrique Belcina, chief of the Mabolo police station.
Lumes and Lusabia, a native of Sta. Fe town on Bantayan Island, Cebu, had a fight over Lumes allegedly flirting with other women inside the condominium unit of Lumes’ parents in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City on Thursday night.
Lusabia claimed that Lumes grabbed her shoulders and shoved her. He also threatened to kill her and her family members, said Lusabia.
Lumes met Lusabia in Sta. Fe when he arrived in Cebu City two years ago as a tourist. Chito O. Aragon, Inquirer Visayas
