Foreign diplomats sign Book of Condolence for Robredo

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday said that as of 6 p.m., a total of 70 foreign diplomats have signed at its Book of Condolence for the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.

A list of the names of the diplomats showed that honorary consuls, charge d’ affaires, and ambassadors, and representatives of international organizations from different countries in Asia like China, Japan, Indonesia, Cambodia; Europe – Spain, Finland, Netherlands,France; and America – Brazil, Canada, Peru, and Chile came to the DFA to sign the book and pay their respects to Robredo

In an interview, Raul Hernandez, DFA spokesperson, said that this was a good number or a good turnout for those who have come to respond and sign the book.

Hernandez said that after the period of signing has ended, they would collect all the books of condolences opened in all foreign posts and would send them to the family of the late Secretary.

Robredo’s remains were flown to Manila from Naga City Friday morning.

From Villamor Airbase, the convoy took Andrews Avenue, Old Airport Road, Roxas Boulevard, Padre Burgos Street, Finance Road, Ayala Bridge, and Solano Street to Malacañang.

Malacañang has said that it will open Robredo’s wake to the public Friday night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. until Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
