MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines condoled with Thailand on Thursday following a mass shooting tragedy that killed 34 individuals in a day care center.

“The Philippine Embassy expresses heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the people and government of the Kingdom of Thailand for the injured and lost lives in the shooting tragedy earlier today in Nongbua Lamphu province.

“We are shocked and saddened by the heartbreaking event and we are one with the Thai people in their grief as they face the painful aftermath of this tragedy,” the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok said in a statement.

While the embassy has not received any reported casualties among Filipinos there, they are working with authorities to ensure their situations.

It added that the embassy is in coordination with the Royal Thai Police.

“The Embassy is working with Thai authorities and the Filipino community in Thailand to ascertain if any Filipino is among the casualties or injured. The Embassy is ready to extend the necessary assistance to any affected Filipino national and their families,” it said.
