2 Filipinos killed in Palau road mishap
MANILA, Philippines — Two Filipinos were killed after a flatbed truck lost control and fell into the sea in Palau, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Thursday.
Citing a report from the Philippine Consulate General in Agana, which has jurisdiction over Palau Islands, DFA said the two Filipinos were with another Filipino when the incident happened last September 21.
The third Filipino survived.
Investigation of the incident is still ongoing but Palau authorities believe that no foul play was involved in the incident, DFA added.
The foreign affairs department said
Employers of the deceased Filipinos have agreed to shoulder the costs of repatriation for their remains, according to DFA. The Philippine Consulate in Agana said it is also working with Palau authorities to hasten the repatriation process.
The Philippine Consulate further said it is ready to provide needed assistance to the families of the Filipino fatalities. /kga
