DFA provides assistance to Filipinos in Air Niugini flight
The foreign affairs department has provided assistance to Filipinos who were aboard the Air Niugini flight that crash landed in a Pacific lagoon on Friday.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is providing assistance to nine Filipino seafarers who were onboard the Air Niugini flight that crash landed in Micronesia,” the department said in a statement.
A report from Consul General Marciano C. de Borja of the Philippine Consulate General in Agana stated that nine Filipinos were on their way to the country for a vacation when the plane crashed.
Borja added that the Consulate General is already coordinating with Air Niugini for the luggage of the Filipino seafarers.
The DFA also noted that one passenger is missing, but the other 46 passengers were safe.
Air Niugini on Friday morning attempted to land at the Chuuk Island airport but crash landed in the Micronesia archipelago. /ee
