A Filipino administrator pleaded guilty before a Dubai court for taking a video of his roommate while she was getting dressed in her side of the room, reports the Khaleej Times.
The Filipino woman, 24, disclosed to prosecutors that she was unknowingly filmed last November while she was preparing for work. She and the 38-year-old man share one room, which is only separated by a wooden partition.
The Filipina said that the video was taken from beneath the partition and that she only discovered her roommate’s voyeuristic act when a Filipino colleague called her attention to it.
The colleague said that the defendant had sent him the 10-second video through the chat app WhatsApp but couldn’t alert her because he didn’t have her number at the time.
When the woman learned about the video, she filed a case at the Jebel Ali Police Station on May 28.
The defendant has been charged with molestation and breaching the woman’s modesty and privacy. He is reported to have apologized during the trial. Niña V. Guno /ra
