An Asian security watchman has been sentenced to 27 years in jail after being found guilty of stabbing a Filipino maid 66 times by the Dubai Criminal Court.

According to Gulf Today, the 24-year-old unidentified assailant knifed the unnamed female worker to death inside her own apartment in the International City’s English Cluster last year.

“We brawled and I knifed her. But I did not intend to kill her…I stole an assortment of currencies from her sideboard, but I returned them,” the convicted man was quoted as saying  during a court questioning.

For his crimes, the man will serve 25 years behind bars plus deportation over the murder charge. He also gets an additional two-year jail term for thieving the victim’s assortment of foreign currencies, the report said.

Meanwhile, the victim’s boyfriend—an Indian sales manager—recalled how he found her apartment door unusually open the night of the attack. Much to his disbelief, he discovered the deceased’s corpse lying face down in a pool of her own blood.

Although the suspect denied any wrongdoing when initially questioned by authorities, he eventually admitted to the crime. He reportedly used a knife and a screwdriver and wore gloves during the incident.  Khristian Ibarrola /ra
