Niles, Illinois ball to fund medical mission to Kawit
CHICAGO– A Masquerade Ball will be held on Friday, Oct.28, 6 p.m. to midnight at the Lone Tree Manor, 7730 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles Illinois to benefit a Filipino medical group’s annual medical mission.
Philippine Medical Association in Chicago (PMAC) Auxiliary will hold the Masquerade Ball to fund the group’s annual medical mission next year in Kawit, Cavite, Jan. 22-26, 2017.
Newly installed PMAC president Dr. Dionisio “Oni” Yorro said that his organization and its foundation are co-sponsoring the fundraising event. The three groups are also the sponsors of forthcoming medical mission, which will be held at the Kalayaan Regional Hospital in Kawit City.
Dr. Zita Balbin-Yorro, chairperson of the 2017 mission project left for Cavite recently to coordinate the sorting out of the medical supplies and medicine that were shipped in dozens of balikbayan boxes. These will be used next January mission.
An average number of 50 volunteers—most of them doctors and nurses—from the U.S., partner with their Philippine counterparts to treat indigent patients that need minor surgeries and check-ups for various ailments.
Article continues after this advertisementAn estimated 1,000 patients receive treatment daily during the past PMAC missions. This year’s project was held in Olongapo City, led by its immediate past president, Dr. Gerardo Guzman.
