Duterte won’t raise sea dispute issue with China at Asean meeting

PANABO CITY, Philippines—President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he will not raise the West Philippine Sea dispute with China at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) meeting in Laos, which he will be attending next week.

“I have nothing against China now. I do not intend to raise the issue before the Asean because if I do, there’s going to be a convoluted thing there, kanya kanya na,” Duterte said in a speech at the inauguration of a facility of the Davao International Container Terminal here. RAM
