Filipino store clerk shot dead in Edmonton, Alberta robbery
SAN FRANCISCO—A Filipino in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was killed in one of two robberies of separate Mac’s convenience stores that also killed another victim.
Police identified the Filipino victim as 41-year-old Ricky Massin Cenabre, originally from Bohol, who was killed on Friday, December 18. He was a clerk at a Mac’s store and was shot by armed robbers.
The second victim, Karanpal Singh Bhangu, 35, also a store clerk, died in hospital after being shot in the stomach while working at the Mac’s store near 32 Ave. and 82 St.
Police apprehended a 13-year-old and two men in their ‘20s as suspects in what was described as a senseless, “gratuitous” killing.
A friend of Cenabre told the Edmonton Sun that Cenabre was working to get his wife, Editha, and 16-year-old son to Canada to settle in Edmonton.
