Filipina nurse stars in U.S. reality show on arranged marriages

SILVER SPRING, Maryland – A Filipina will be featured in the TLC reality show “Married By Mom and Dad,” which premieres Sunday, December 13 at 10/9 central.

“Married By Mom and Dad,” is a modern take on voluntary arranged marriages, based on old school tradition and real world success.  Four singles who have been unable to find love in the world of modern dating, have now agreed to put their future into the hands of their parents.

When the modern ways of dating don’t work, the four singles go to the two people who know them best—their parents—in hopes of finding their soul mates and walking down the aisle, according to a TLC press release.

FEATURED STORIES

Viewers will follow each mom and dad through the process of meeting and vetting the potential future spouses and watch their kids meet their life partners for the first time. But the real work begins as the couples get to know what they like, dislike, and everything in between.

Marivic Febiar (Valley Cottage, New York)–Marivic is outgoing, opinionated, fun-loving and very single.  A 34-year-old full-time nurse, she lives with her parents outside of New York City.  She’s asked her traditional, Filipino parents to date on her behalf and choose the man that is right for her.

Mitch Sargent (Los Angeles)–a 30-year-old certified level II sommelier and full-time wine salesman, Mitch has had a hard time meeting the perfect girl in the L.A. dating scene.  He wants the love and stability marriage can bring.

John Coultrip (Denver, Colorado)–John has had a good time casually dating, but he recently turned 31 and is ready to find his perfect match. 

Christina Rollyson (Charleston, South Carolina)–Christina recently moved from her hometown of Charleston, West Virginia, to Charleston, South Carolina, to start her own travel agency and has had a hard time dating due to her long work hours. But the 33-year-old is finally ready to settle down and devote her time to finding love.
