Aquino back from Paris talks, meeting with Pope
President Benigno Aquino III returned to the Philippines on Saturday noon from the historic climate talks in Paris and a visit in Rome and Vatican.
Aquino arrived around 1 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 2 aboard a Philippines Airlines plane.
Aquino took part in 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) in Paris, a global effort to fight climate change by forging a legally binding agreement that will aim to mitigate the effects of climate change, particularly the rise in global temperature.
From Paris, Aquino visited Rome and met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi where they signed various agreements, which would benefit overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)
The President then proceeded to Vatican City and met with Pope Francis in return for the pontiff’s visit to the Philippines last January. CDG
