HONOLULU – A local firefighter was honored by the Honolulu City Council for heroism in rendering aid to victims at the scene of a May 31 traffic accident.

Honolulu Firefighter Mark J. Inay received certificate of commendation from Councilmember Ron Menor during the Honolulu Fire Department Commendation Ceremony on November 13 at the Charles H. Inay parked his vehicle and provided trauma assessment and medical treatment until an ambulance and fire truck arrived at the scene, reported the Filipino Chronicle.

A resident of Ewa Beach, Inay joined the Honolulu Fire Department in February 1996. He is currently assigned to HFD’s Fire Prevention Bureau, where he primarily handles administrative duties for the Bureau and battalion chief.

“As fate may have it, Firefighter Inay was the injured victim’s guardian angel,” says Councilmember Menor. “His quick action prevented the victim from suffering even more serious injuries and will hopefully result in a speedier recovery.

“The Council congratulates Firefighter Inay and wishes him continued success in his career with the Honolulu Fire Department and in all future endeavors.”
