MANILA, Philippines—The Chief of the Olangapo Prosecutor’s Office on Monday appealed for more patience from the family of slain transgender Jennifer “Jeffrey” Laude as US Marine tagged in her killing once again did not show up in the preliminary probe.

Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton was again a no-show in the preliminary investigation before the city prosecutor’s office and has also not filed his counter affidavit.

“Time will come, you will see him eventually. Let us finish all evidence, complete the process of preliminary investigation. Let us not hurry,” Emelie Fe Delos Santos said.

“Still he has to come before us,” Delos Santos said.

Despite Pemberton’s absence, Delos Santos said they will continue the preliminary investigation and “will determine probable cause.”

She has previously set an ocular inspection into the hotel where the victim Jeffrey “Jennifer” Laude, was allegedly killed by Pemberton last October 11, 2014.

The prosecutor’s office is also awaiting the results from the forensics laboratory.

Pemberton’s legal counsel, lawyer Rowena Garcia Flores, asked in the last preliminary investigation hearing that they will avail of the 10-day period for them to submit their counter affidavit. The 10-day period ends Monday.
