DFA: No Filipino with Ebola in W. Africa
MANILA, Philippines–No Filipino in West Africa has been affected by the Ebola virus disease outbreak that has killed more than 800 people in the region, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Monday.
DFA spokesman and Assistant Secretary Charles Jose said Alert level 2 remains in effect in West Africa. He warned Filipinos in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to restrict non-essential movements, avoid public places and to take extra precaution.
Jose said there were 880 Filipinos in Guinea; 632 in Liberia, including 148 deployed in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force; and 1,979 in Sierra Leone.–Christine O. Avendaño
