LOS ANGELES, California – Consul General Leo M. Herrera-Lim met with 126 well- wishers at Rizal Hall in the Philippine Consulate General April 25 to officially introduce himself to the local Filipino-American community.

In Herrera-Lim’s welcome remarks, he encouraged Filipino-Americans to play an active role in enhancing the economic growth of the Philippines and to join the 9th Ambassadors/Consuls General and Tourism Tour with the basic tour beginning from July 28-31.

He added that the Consulate is ready to assist in community activities that foster trade and investment between the United States and the Philippines.

Herrera-Lim is a career diplomat. Prior to his posting in Chicago, he represented the Philippines in the United States as Second Secretary and Consul at the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. from 1991 to 1998.He had frequent interaction with the World Bank Group, Intelsat, U.S. Department of State and U.S. Treasury.

In the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland he served as First Secretary and Consul and later Minister and Consul General at the Philippine Embassy in London from 2000 to 2007, dealing with government, international organizations and the private sector.

Herrera-Lim studied economics and law at the University of the Philippines.
