President Aquino on Wednesday signed the expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, or Republic Act 10364, which provides for strengthened prosecution of those who engage or attempt to engage in human trafficking, as well as protection to trafficked victims.

The United States remained firm in its commitment to assist the country’s efforts against human trafficking amid reports that a group it had been funding had been involved in allegations of fraud, the US embassy in Manila said Friday.
