MANILA, Philippines ? The Czech Republic, together with Czech companies like Enviros, has contributed 100,000 euros (about P6.7 million) in emergency humanitarian aid to tropical storm Ondoy victims, it was learned Tuesday.

In a telegram to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Prime Minister Jan Fischer conveyed his condolences to the Filipino people.

?I was deeply struck by the tragic news of the numerous human casualities in your country, which I visited only recently. I feel for you and your people in this challenging moment. We have a first hand painful experience with destructive floods in the Czech Republic and we know how difficult the recovery process is,? he said in the September 29 telegram.

The funds will be placed at the disposal of the Philippine National Red Cross for food and sanitary products for the victims of the disaster.

Other countries that have responded to the plea for help to Ondoy victims include Canada (P220 million), European Union (P130 million), Australia (P120 million), Japan (about P10.34 million in goods); China (P6.6 million); and the United States (P4.7 million).
