WASHINGTON DC ? Senator Lito Lapid didn?t get his wish to be included in a select group of Philippine officials, led by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who were to meet US President Barack Obama at the White House on Thursday.
But former Sen. Heherson Alvarez, now presidential adviser on climate change, was surprisingly added as the sixth man in the group of officials that included Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, Speaker Prospero Nograles, Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, and Foreign Secretary Alberto Romulo.
Going with Ms Arroyo were Philippine Ambassador to the United States Willy Gaa and staffers Patricia Paez and Mei Ann Austria.
Lapid said earlier in Filipino during a talk with reporters before the FilUSA dinner for Ms Arroyo at the Willard Hotel: ?I hope I?d be lucky enough to be chosen among the five that would be allowed to accompany the President when she meets Obama.?
