CEBU CITY, Philippines - Cebu province?s ?dancing? inmates will perform again at 10 a.m. today to celebrate Valentine?s Day.
This time, a Korean dance troupe is joining them.
Byron Garcia, Capitol security consultant, said a member of the Sun Korean Dance Group of the Po-Cheon City Subdivision, Korea Dance Institute Corp. called up asking to watch the inmates dance in the jail quadrangle in barangay Kalunasan, and to perform a number as well.
The dance troupe was supposed to return to Korea yesterday after their ?Sun Dance Goes to the Philippines? performance at the Cebu Coliseum last Feb. 11. But they wanted to maximize their Cebu visit by watching the ?dancing inmates? whom they?ve only seen in YouTube, Garcia said.
The inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) became famous internationally when their version of Michael Jackson?s ?Thriller? was posted on YouTube.
About 40 Koreans dancers will perform first at the quadrangle of CPDRC.
?After their performance, the Korean dancers will go upstairs and watch the inmates dance,? said Garcia.
The Sun Dance Troupe received various awards for their performances in different countries. /Reporter Nilda Gallo
