Service is best rewarded when it is not done for personal gains.?
This was said by Edith Tacan, branch manager of Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) ? Plaza Independencia branch.
Tacan, along with other Land Bank officials, took the initiatives of visiting the 10 barangays of Cebu City to distribute cash cards to the more than 3,000 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The distribution was done for four consecutive Saturdays of February starting Feb. 6 in the mountain barangays of Tagbao, Sudlon I and II with around 500 beneficiaries; on Feb. 13 in the lowland barangays of Duljo, Sawang Calero and Inayawan with some 1,000 beneficiaries; Feb. 20 in barangays Kalunasan, Tejero and T. Padilla with 1,000 beneciaries; and on Feb. 27 in Mambaling with 800 beneficiaries, including the more than 200 Badjaos in sitio Alaska.
The Land Bank officials also explained to the beneficiaries how to use their cash cards.
Through the cash cards, beneficiaries can now withdraw their benefits from the Land Bank ATM near their locality, and they do not need to go to the bank for over-the-counter transaction, Tacan said.
?Taking into consideration the day to day banking transactions and the thousands of 4Ps beneficiaries the bank has to handle during the payment of cash grants, LBP-Plaza Independencia branch had to issue cash cards to the beneficiaries so as not to sacrifice their quality service,? she added.
4Ps is a poverty alleviation program that gives conditional cash grant to poor qualified households.
Each household will receive P500 per month for health and nutrition and P300 per month for education of each child up to age 14. Poor families can get educational subsidy for a maximum of three children.
