Manila Bay’s popular sunset, one of the Philippine capital’s charms, seemed to have caught the attention of United States President Barack Obama during his visit here for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit.

Pete Souza, Chief Official White House photographer, posted a photo of Obama on Instagram watching the stunning sunset view of Manila Bay.

“Watching the sunset in Manila,” the caption read.

Shortly after his arrival midday Tuesday, Obama visited Philippine warship BRP Gregorio del Pilar amid continuing tensions with China in the region.

It was after his visit that he announced that he will be giving two ships for the Philippine Navy as part of their maritime assistance to their regional allies.

Obama is in the country for the Apec Leaders’ Meeting. After his Manila visit, he will be in Malaysia for another regional summit. CDG
