Progressive groups called for the conviction of former President Rodrigo Duterte for crimes against humanity ahead of his first International Criminal Court (ICC) appearance on Friday.

MANILA, Philippines – Progressive groups called for the conviction of former President Rodrigo Duterte for crimes against humanity ahead of his first International Criminal Court (ICC) appearance on Friday.

Protesters gathered at the University of the Philippines Diliman on Friday afternoon, demanding justice for victims of extrajudicial killings said to be committed during the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.

“Uhaw na uhaw na tayo na magkaroon na talaga ng pananagutan sa maraming mga krimen na nangyari sa kanyang administrasyon,” Kabataan party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel said at the rally.
