PH embassy saddened by Filipino maid’s alleged killing of Kuwaiti child

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait on Saturday condoled with the family of a Kuwaiti child allegedly killed by a Filipino domestic worker.

“The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait is shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic incident of a Filipino domestic worker involved in the death of a Kuwaiti child in her employer’s household,” the embassy said in a statement.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the bereaved family during this difficult time,” it added.

According to a report by the Arab Times, the unnamed Filipino domestic helper placed the Kuwaiti child inside a washing machine at her employers’ residence, leading to his tragic death.

The parents reportedly rushed to rescue their son upon hearing his screams and brought him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The embassy said it is cooperating with Kuwaiti authorities in investigating the “isolated” incident.

“This isolated incident does not reflect the character of Filipinos and the Filipino community in Kuwait, who are recognized for their hard work, reliability, and positive contribution to society,” it said.

The embassy is also assisting the detained Filipino domestic worker within the framework of Kuwaiti law and in line with its mandate.
