31 more Filipinos abroad contract COVID-19, another 20 recover – DFA
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday reported 31 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad.
According to DFA figures, the additional infections pushed the total of cases among overseas Filipinos to 16,040.
Of this number, 5,271 are undergoing treatment while 9,722 have already recovered or been discharged from hospitals.
The DFA also reported 20 new recoveries and no new deaths. The death toll stands at 1,047.
“To date, the total number of countries and territories with confirmed cases among Filipinos remains at 90,” the DFA said.
“The DFA shall continue to keep track of the status of overseas Filipinos, and facilitate repatriations, whenever possible,” it added.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the Philippines, the Department of Health on Thursday recorded new 8,773 COVID-19 cases—a new record-high for additional infections in the country since the pandemic began.
Article continues after this advertisementWith the new recorded infections, the nationwide tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 693,048.
Globally, over 122.5 million individuals have so far been infected by the new coronavirus. More than 2.7 million have died from the disease across the world.
