COVID-19 death toll among infected Filipinos abroad now at 666
MANILA, Philippines — The death count of Filipinos abroad infected with COVID-19 has reached 666, including 11 new fatalities, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Wednesday.
DFA likewise said 87 more contracted the respiratory disease increasing the total tally of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos overseas to 9,392 – of which 3,265 remain under treatment.
Recoveries, meanwhile, rose to 5,461 as 35 patients have recovered from the illness, DFA added.
In the Philippines, total coronavirus cases have surpassed 85,000 including 1,874 new infections as of July 29.
Globally, over 16.3 million individuals have so far been infected by the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2, which originated from Wuhan City in China’s Hubei province late last year. More than 650,000 have died from the disease across the world.
