24 more Filipinos abroad contract COVID-19; no new deaths — DFA
MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-four more Filipinos overseas have contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), raising the total count to 2,869 cases, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Saturday.
Of the total confirmed COVID-19 cases, the foreign affairs department said 1,554 patients are now being treated at hospitals.
The DFA also said the total number of recovered Filipinos abroad is now at 975, with the addition of 28 more recoveries.
“Similar to yesterday’s figures, the daily rate of confirmed cases remains at 24 while the daily rate of recoveries increased to 28 new recoveries, mostly from the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe,” read the DFA statement.
Meanwhile, no new COVID-19 fatalities were recorded as the death toll remains at 340.
Globally, COVID-19 has infected over 5.9 million people and killed more than 360,000. Over 2.4 million people worldwide have also recovered from the disease.
