14 countries impose travel restrictions on Filipinos

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has advised Filipinos on travel restrictions in 14 countries to control the spread of COVID-19.

As of March 14, the travel restrictions are those by Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Cook Islands, Bahrain, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Bhutan, Liberia, Kuwait, India, Israel, Palestine, Fiji and Seychelles.

Qatar and Cook Islands will deny entry to travelers from virus-hit countries — including the Philippines —  in the last 14 days.

Saudi Arabia also imposed a ban but exempted Filipino health practitioners and newly-hired and returning workers.

Bahrain will not permit entry or transit to foreigners who have been to China, Iran, Iraq or South Korea in the last 14 days.

Oman will bar foreigners who have traveled to China, Iran, South Korea and Italy.

Foreigners entering New Zealand will undergo a 14-day self-isolation upon arrival.

The United Arab Emirates will suspend issuing visas starting March 17, except for diplomats.

Kuwait has barred the entry of foreigners.

Bhutan barred tourists for two weeks beginning March 6.

Liberia said foreigners from areas with over 100 confirmed COVID-19 cases like the Philippines will be placed under observation.

India has suspended all existing visas except those issued to diplomats until April 15.

Israel will require all foreigners from abroad to undergo 14 days of quarantine.

The Palestinian Authority also banned the entry of all tourists into the West Bank.
