Human rights advocate Boehringer already left Manila—BI
Australian-American law professor and human rights advocate Gill Boehringer left the country on Tuesday, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
“He left at noon yesterday,” said the bureau’s spokesperson, Dana Sandoval, in a text message to the Inquirer on Wednesday.
Boehringer left on board a China Southern flight back to Guangzhou City in China, his port of origin before he arrived in Manila on Aug. 1.
He was prevented from entering the country and was held at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport because he was on the immigration “blacklist” for allegedly joining protest actions against the government. —Tina G. Santos
