After five years of hiding, a suspect charged with parricide for killing his father was arrested in Dubai, police said Monday.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said Nelson Antonio returned to Manila on Sunday morning from Abu Dhabi with Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Police Director Roel Obusan, PNP Drug Enforcement Group Chief Supt. Albert Ignatius Ferro; and Police Attache to UAE SSupt. Enrique Magalona and Supt. Rodolfo Gonzales.

“During investigation in 2013, Nelson Antonio has confessed before prosecutors to the slay of his own father, businessman Antonio P. Antonio, who was shot six times on Sept. 11, 2013 at the family residence in Parañaque City,” Albayalde said in a press conference at Camp Crame.

Antonio left the Philippines on Dec. 28, 2013 for Singapore and has been wanted since. He was arrested by UAE police who were alerted by the Interpol Red Notice and based from information provided by an overseas worker. /je
