Filipino among  18 awardees of Society of Foreign Consuls

A Filipino advocate of women empowerment was among 18 awardees recognized by the Society of Foreign Consuls (SOFC) in New York for the observance of International Women’s Day.

Analisa Leonor Balares, Womensphere chief executive office, chief innovation officer and founder, was recognized for her work in capacitating women in leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship as well as in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).

Balares received on March 2 the recognition at the Bohemian Hall of the consulate general of the Czech Republic from Colombian consul general and SOFC president Isabel Nieto and SOFC vice president Theresa Dizon De Vega.

Balares was bestowed the honor for producing over 50 Womensphere conferences and events in America and Europe and initiating the New Champions Womensphere Incubator Network.

The 17 other awardees hail from Algeria, Bangladesh, Barbados, Bulgaria, Columbia, Georgia, Haiti, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kazhakastan, Kosovo, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovak Republic and Turkey.
