Duterte gov’t to still consult Ramos on China – Palace

MANILA — Malacañang on Monday night said it was not aware of the reported decision of former President Fidel V. Ramos to quit as special ambassador to China.
“We have not received (Ramos’) resignation,” Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a statement.
He also denied reports that Ramos would no longer be consulted by the Duterte administration in dealing with China.
“His stature and expertise are needed now more than ever to follow up and bike on what President Duterte accomplished during his recent visit to China,” he said.
Talks were rife that Mr. Duterte’s abrasive behavior towards the United States and the United Nations did not sit well with the former president, a retired Army general.
