SAN PEDRO CITY — A Chinese national who said he was abducted has sought refuge with policemen in Laguna province after he jumped out of a car to escape his abductors early Wednesday, police said.

Supt. Peter Dionisio, regional director of the police’s Highway Patrol Group in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), said the victim, Kun Liang Cao, 28, entered the country on June 28 using a tourist visa.

Dionisio, in a telephone interview, said Kun told policemen he was abducted by four other Chinese men who demanded that he pay them P14 million.

The money was allegedly stolen from a brokerage company where Kun supposedly worked since he arrived in the Philippines.

Dionisio said investigators were verifying the information shared by Kun, including the existence of the brokerage company.

Police said when Kun failed to produce the money, the kidnappers took him from his rented house in Makati City at 4 a.m. and forced him into a dark blue Mercedes Benz sedan.

Kun said they drove toward the South Luzon Expressway. When the car slowed down at the Ayala Greenfield toll plaza in Calamba City at 6:30 a.m., Kun said he found an opportunity to jump out of the vehicle and seek help.

Dionisio said a footage from a closed circuit television camera showed that the car used a Philippine National Police commemorative plate marked “PNP 91.”

He said Kun would be turned over to the police’s Anti-Kidnapping Group in Camp Crame, Quezon City, which would then take over the investigation.  SFM
