Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle on Friday called on Filipinos to pray for the victims of the deadly quake that struck Italy, which had taken more than 250 lives.

A 6.1 magnitude quake hit central Italy in the early hours of Wednesday. Aftershocks rattled the quake zone as the search for survivors went on.

Tagle said Filipinos should reach out to people in disaster-stricken countries as brothers and sisters, in the same way that they extended their help and prayers when calamities hit the Philippines.

Tagle also called on everyone to play their part in taking care of the environment to prevent worsening the effects of natural calamities.
