Malacañang on Tuesday recognized the achievements of Ronnie del Carmen, co-director of “Inside Out.”
Del Carmen was not only the codirector of the film that won best animated feature in this year’s Academy Awards, he is also the first Filipino to codirect a Pixar film and bag a nomination for Oscar best original screenplay.
“We extend our congratulations to Ronnie del Carmen, co-director of the Oscar award winning animated feature film, ‘Inside Out,’” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a text message to media.
“His achievement exemplifies the talent and creative genius of the Filipino that continues to reap global recognition,” he added.
Del Carmen, who hails from Cavite City, dedicated the award he received to the Philippines.
““This is for my parents who worked so hard to save us; my country where so many are like me wishing for what seems impossible. For my people in the Philippines, I can tell you—dreams keep you going. Awards or no awards, let this be a point of reference that anyone can dream the impossible,” he said.
