Fil-Am TV reporter arrested in hit-and-run, pedestrian injured

Lubbock, Texas TV reporter Patricia Villacin was arrested for hit-and-run.

SAN FRANCISCO – A Filipino American television reporter in Lubbock, Texas, was arrested for alleged hit-and-run that injured a pedestrian, while she was driving an SUV owned by her station.

Police said Patricia Villacin, 23, a journalist for Newschannel 11, ran over a pedestrian’s leg in a crosswalk and failed to stop and give aid to him.

Villacin was arrested at the KCBD station Thursday, September 10 after a witness gave police the vehicle’s license plate number. She faces a third-degree felony charge but is out a $5,000 bail bond. She has not issued a statement about the incident and her arrest.

The victim, Taylor Hammond, 24, was hospitalized with reportedly with multiple compound fractures to his right leg and would need further surgery, according to his lawyer.

Villacin graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2014 and interned for Dallas’ WFAA-TV prior to joining KCBD-TV in January 2015.

Villacin’s TV station has removed her bio page her arrest. KCBD-TV’s general manager and vice-president Dan Jackson said the station was “fully cooperating with authorities.”
