Chinese held in QC for ‘drug lab’ items

MANILA, Philippines—A Chinese national carrying equipment believed to be used for manufacturing illegal drugs was arrested at a bus terminal in Quezon City on Friday.

Zhang Youhou, 46, was prevented from boarding by security personnel at the Araneta Center bus terminal, who found his boxes to be containing glassware known to be used in underground narcotics labs.

The arrest was made two weeks after authorities seized at the same terminal 32 boxes of chemicals suspected to be raw materials for illegal drugs and bound for Masbate province.

Zhang, who would speak only in Chinese, was about take a bus also to Masbate, according to Senior Insp. Roberto Razon, head of the antiillegal drugs task group of the Quezon City Police District. Julie M. Aurelio
