Illegal recruiter nabbed in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines—An illegal recruiter was nabbed in an entrapment operation by the Quezon City Police District after a jobseeker got suspicious and found out that the contract being offered to her was allegedly fake.

The suspect, Crisilyn Batican, was subjected to inquest proceedings on Friday before the Quezon City prosecutors’ office on illegal recruitment raps under the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act.

Chief Inspctor Rodelio Marcelo, chief of the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said another suspect remains at large.

Batican was arrested during the entrapment at her house in Caloocan City on Thursday night.

The entrapment operation was set up after a job applicant, Salvacion Crispo, discovered that Batican was not registered with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration. Julie M. Aurelio
