Cebu City Hall to tighten security after bin Laden’s death

FOLLOWING the death of Al Qaida founder Osama bin Laden, security will be tightened at Cebu City Hall.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said a “no ID, no entry” policy will be implemented at the City Hall probably starting next week.

Authorities are on heightened alert for fear of reprisal from bin Laden’s followers.

Rama added the policy will be implemented both at the legislative and executive buildings of the City Hall.

Rama said the policy has been planned a long time ago and will be implemented only now following bin Laden’s death.

Retired Major Romeo Cordova, city consultant on peace and order, said installing security cameras inside the City Hall is also being planned.

Although there is no specific threats yet, Cordova said the city has to step up its security measures to prevent untoward incidents.

Cordova said the city is also planning to request for more security and policemen to be deployed at City Hall. CORRESPONDENT FATRICK R. TABADA
