SUICIDE
A 56-YEAR-OLD man suffering from asthma was found hanging dead in his home in barangay Babag II, Lapu-Lapu City early morning yesterday.
Police said there were no signs of foul play in the death of Porperio Piañar.
Police said the man’s wife had to go to their relatives to borrow money for the medication of the victim.
The wife arrived home around 9 a.m. and was shocked to see her husband hanging from a beam of their house with a rope looped around his neck.
The man was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu District Hospital where attending physicians declared him dead./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS

Article continues after this advertisementA MAN convicted of robbery charges was arrested for shoplifting in a downtown mall in Cebu City shortly before noon yesterday.
Danny Booc of Minglanilla town, Cebu was held by house detectives of 138 Mall while he was about to leave the establishment. Four unpaid folding knives were found in the possession of the man, said police.
Police added a commotion occurred when the man resisted, destroying several merchandise displayed at the exit door of the mall.
Booc admitted that he was convicted of robbery charges and was jailed at the in New Bilibid Prison in Muntilupa.
Booc told police that he only took one knife while the other three knives were given to him by a cohort whom he only identified as Intsik.
Booc said Intsik, who eluded arrest, passed the three knives to him after he noticed the apprehending security personnel.
