CA panel confirms nomination of PH ambassador to Turkey
MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Appointments has confirmed the nomination of Rowena Sanchez as Philippine ambassador to Turkey.
The confirmation was made despite opposition filed against Sanchez during Wednesday’s hearing of the CA committee on foreign affairs.
Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago showed up at the Senate to preside over the hearing on the nominations of Sanchez and six other senior officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Aside from Santiago, who chairs the committee, the other member present was Senator Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos.
Santiago has been on sick leave due to chronic fatigue syndrome.
