Mandaue cop charged with rape

A RAPE complaint was filed yesterday against a policeman accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in a motel in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

Insp. Gerardo Fiel Jr. was charged before the Mandaue City Prosecutors’ Office. Fiel was the deputy chief of the Subangdaku police precinct when the alleged rape occurred. He was relieved from his post while the investigation against him is ongoing.

In her affidavit, the girl said she and a friend were walking toward a pharmacy last March 17 when a gray Pajero stopped near them.

The girl said the driver befriended them and introduced himself as Arjun.

The girl said the man offered them a ride. The girl said they agreed to ride since the man said he was a policeman.

Before they disembarked, the girl said the driver took their cell phone numbers.

Days later, the girl and her friend met with the policeman in a gas station on U.N. Avenue in barangay Umapad where they had a drinking session.

The girl said they rode on the policeman’s vehicle on their way home after the drinking session.

While heading home, the girl said her friend disembarked to urinate.

The girl said the policeman sped off and left her friend behind.
