Korean arrested for stealing dormmate’s wallet in Manila
MANILA, Philippines—A 59-year-old Korean national was arrested Monday morning after his housemate complained that the former stole his wallet while he was sleeping in their boarding house in Ermita, Manila.
Senior Police Officer 2 John Cayetano of the Manila Police District-General Assignments Section identified the suspect as Byeongdeok Ahn, jobless, and residing at 486 Sta. Monica St.
Danilo Bautista, 45, an engineer and residing at same address said he felt Ahn lay beside him while he was sleeping and placed his wallet under the pillows. Although he was puzzled by the Korean’s actions, he said he continued with his sleep.
Bautista said he was awakened around 6 a.m. when Ahn went out of the room in a hurry. When he checked his wallet under the pillows, it was already gone.
Bautista immediately called the attention of the caretaker and they found Ahn outside the house.
Ahn denied stealing anything but Bautista frisked him and found the wallet in his back pocket.
