MANILA, Philippines—Intervention by a foreign power in the Sabah dispute could only escalate the situation, Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Chairman Nur Misuari said Wednesday.

“The problem will worsen if a foreign country will try to meddle with the problem because they cannot understand the problem. I think its best that the two parties sit and talk in a brotherly way,” Misuari said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990AM.

He pointed out that Malaysia and the Bangsamoro nation are brothers. “God has given them a piece of land for them to live in and God also has given us a piece of land to live in and to survive.

“We do not want to be coerced. The constitution says we should resolve the problem through peaceful means,” he added.
