MANILA, Philippines—Home improvement giant Lowe’s will have its grand opening in Iwilei, Hawaii Thursday.
Lowe’s Iwilei has 117,000 square feet of retail sales space, with an adjacent garden center, stocking 40,000 different items to help customers build, improve and beautify their homes, store manager Craig Anderson said.
A store of this size represents an average investment in the community of more than $21 million and creates an average of 125 new jobs, said Anderson.
Thursday’s activities include the Buy a Gift Card, Help Build a Home promo. “Purchase a Lowe’s Gift Card on Thursday, and Lowe’s will match purchases up to $5,000 to support the Honolulu Habitat for Humanity’s next building project,” said Anderson.
On Saturday, the store, which has 1,725 home improvement stores in the United States, Canada and Mexico, will feature the Tic Tac Toe board Build & Grow project.
Lowe’s also conducts Build and Grow clinics bi-weekly as a way for parents and adult mentors to spend quality time with their children—free of charge. The clinics are recommended for children in grades 2 to 5, and each clinic provides hands-on instruction to approximately 50 children.
