Asean 2026 Cebu weather: Expect heat, humidity, and rain

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu is expected to experience a mix of intense heat and increasing chances of rain this week as shifting weather patterns coincide with the 48th Asean Leaders’ Summit, state forecasters said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), through its Visayas regional division, issued a Special Local Weather Forecast for Metro Cebu, warning of high heat indices and a midweek increase in rainfall that could affect summit activities.
Heat dominates early week
From May 5 to 6, Cebu will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with only a 30 percent chance of rain.

However, temperatures will feel significantly hotter. The heat index may reach up to 39 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 38 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, levels that fall under the “extreme caution” category.
Light to moderate winds from the northeast to east will prevail, offering little relief from the heat and humidity.
Rain chances spike midweek
Weather conditions will shift starting Thursday, May 7, the opening day of key Asean meetings, as cloud cover increases and rain probabilities surge.
Forecasters expect:
- Up to 80 percent chance of rain in the morning;
- Around 60 percent in the afternoon; and
- 80 percent chance of rain in the evening.

These conditions point to likely rain showers and thunderstorms that could disrupt outdoor events, transport, and security movements.
Rain will persist through Friday, May 8, with a 40 to 60 percent chance of intermittent showers under mostly cloudy skies.
Unsettled but still hot weekend
By the weekend, conditions may remain generally cloudy. Scattered rain chances may ease slightly to 30 to 40 percent by Sunday, May 10.
Despite the increased cloud cover and rainfall, the heat index will continue to hover between 37 and 38 degrees Celsius, keeping conditions hot and humid across Metro Cebu.
No storms, but thunderstorms likely
Pagasa said that no tropical cyclone will directly affect Cebu during the forecast period. But localized thunderstorms may develop, especially from Thursday onward.
Authorities will continue to monitor a low-pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and a tropical depression outside PAR, although neither currently poses a direct threat to Cebu. /dl
