The visit, according to Romualdez and other lawmakers, is “a concrete manifestation of the Philippines’ and Malaysia’s enduring mutual respect and cooperation as members of AIPA (Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly), and their reaffirmation to revitalize their desire to work together for the enhancement of their relations, sharing the same vision of achieving regional peace and economic development.”
The lawmakers pointed out that the two countries traded and exchanged goods amounting to RM36.12 billion (US$7.92 billion) in 2023. They added that this made both countries the 17th largest global partners and the fifth largest among Asean members.
